Serial Debug Login
Overview
The debug serial port is one of the most direct ways to connect to the Rhino Pi A1 Mini, without the need to configure a display or network additionally.
Prerequisites
Hardware
- Prepare a USB-to-TTL serial tool (e.g. CH340, CP2102)
- Install the corresponding USB-to-serial driver
- Prepare several jumper wires to connect the 40-pin header on the board
Software
- Install a serial terminal tool (e.g. MobaXterm, PuTTY, SecureCRT)
- Create a serial session with the baud rate set to 115200
Hardware Connection
- Use a USB-to-TTL tool to connect the PC and the device:
- Connect the USB end to the PC
- Connect the jumper wires to pins 6, 8 and 10 of the 40-pin header on the Rhino Pi A1 Mini
- Pin mapping:
| 40-pin | Function | Connect to |
|---|---|---|
| 6 | GND | GND of the USB-to-TTL tool |
| 8 | DEBUG_UART_TX | RX of the USB-to-TTL tool |
| 10 | DEBUG_UART_RX | TX of the USB-to-TTL tool |
- Power on the device and wait for the system to finish booting (the green LED stays on)
Establish a Serial Connection
- Open the serial terminal tool and select the COM port of the USB-to-TTL tool
- Configure the serial parameters:
- Baud rate: 115200
- Data bits: 8
- Stop bits: 1
- Parity: None
- Flow control: None
- Open the serial connection and press Enter to access the device command line
