ADB Login

This article describes how to log in to the Rhino Pi IQ9N Ubuntu system using ADB over a USB data cable.

Prerequisites

ItemDescription
Rhino Pi IQ9NUbuntu 24.04 system already flashed
Power adapterDC 19V / 65W
USB data cableConnects the device's USB interface to the PC
PCADB tools installed

Installing ADB Tools

On Windows, download Platform Tools from the Android developer website and extract it, then add the directory containing adb.exe to the system environment variable PATH.

After installation, verify in a terminal:

bash
adb version

Connecting the Device

  1. Use a USB data cable to connect the Rhino Pi IQ9N to the PC.
  2. Connect a DC power supply to the device and power it on.
  3. Run the following command in the PC terminal to confirm that the device has been recognized:
bash
adb devices

Normally the output looks like this:

bash
List of devices attached
xxxxxxxx device

Logging In

adb shell enters the system as a regular user by default. If you need root privileges, run adb root first to switch to root, then enter the device shell:

bash
adb root
adb shell

No password is required. After entering, you can use whoami to confirm the current identity; if adb root reports adbd is already running as root, you are already root.

The system login account (used for the graphical interface, SSH, and so on) is as follows:

ItemValue
Usernameaidlux
Passwordaidlux

Common Commands

CommandDescription
adb devicesList connected devices
adb rootSwitch to root privileges
adb shellEnter the device shell
adb push <local> <device>Push a file to the device
adb pull <device> <local>Pull a file from the device
adb shell rebootReboot the device

FAQ

  • adb devices produces no output: confirm that the USB cable supports data transfer (not a charge-only cable) and that the corresponding driver is installed.
  • adb reboot does not respond: on this device the command hangs indefinitely and the device does not reboot (verified by measurement); use adb shell reboot to reboot instead.
  • No device-side authorization for USB debugging is needed: ADB on the IQ9N does not require authorization to be confirmed on the device; it is enough that adb devices shows device. If you need root privileges, run adb root first.
